98-02-01 Mapping the Human Genome

The Human Genome Center of the Institute of Medical Research of the University of Tokyo headed by Professor Takagi selected IF/Prolog as part of its research infrastructure.

The research centre ranks among the leading in the world and is funded by the Japanese Government and The University of Tokyo.

IF/Prolog was deployed on two Silicon Graphics Origin supercomputers, with system integration done by a company of C.Itoh in cooperation with Hitachi. According to Silicon Graphics this is the largest SGI machine in Japan and one of biggest world wide. This installation follows a large deployment of IF/Prolog on servers by Sun Microsystems delivered by Fujitsu.

The research goal is to map the human genome.
